This course examines the core values, principals, standards and responsibilities of ethical prevention practices in various situations and settings . The course identifies the specific knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to think, make decisions and act in an ethical and professional manner and offers an opportunity to discuss prevention ethics with an expert instructor.
Drugs of Abuse

This course provides basic information about the disease of addiction and its consequences. The course is designed for prevention service providers with limited knowledge of addiction or treatment.

Every preventionist who comes into contact with target populations who could be affected by alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs of abuse should have at least a basic knowledge of:

(1) The major drugs of abuse;

(2) Some of the intoxication effects and potential health consequences of drugs of abuse; and

(3) The major opportunities to apply preventive approaches to address specific drugs of abuse.
Understanding Addiction
